“When In Rome” movie review

Last night I got the opportunity to see a premiere of “When In Rome” starring Kristen Bell and Josh Duhmel in San Marcos.   Starting from the very beginning of the movie when Beth has an incredibly awkward and embarrassing run-in with her ex-boyfriend, I was laughing uncontrollably!  I had quickly watched the movie trailer before going to see “When in Rome”, but really didn’t have any idea of what to expect besides a New Yorker heading to Rome for her sister’s wedding.  Throughout the entire movie I couldn’t stop laughing hysterically–from the unpredictable actors that made appearances in the flick, to the crazy antics they displayed in trying to win her love, the movie never lost it’s comedic edge.

When leaving the movie and speaking with other attendees, it seemed the older adults and parents didn’t enjoy the movie as much as the younger crowd.  They said they expected and would have liked ‘better cinematography’ which isn’t in my opinion what the movie was about at all.  The overall opinion was reflected in what I heard–the entire movie theater busting up laughing along with me.  I really would recommend this movie to anyone looking for a cute, hilarious comedy.

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas…

Disney's California Adventure

We had the wonderful opportunity to spend the day at Disneyland today and experience all the new attractions that Christmas time brings to Disneyland (as well as some completely BRAND NEW).  We began the day by going to California Adventure and walking around to enjoy the decorations, grab a coffee and hot coco at Boudin’s, and ride on California Screamin’! Great way to wake up in the morning.  We then trekked over to the main Disneyland park to catch one of the first shows from the *NEW* Disney Princess, Tiana on the showboat on the river.  The show was spectacular and got everyone excited for the upcoming ‘Princess and the Frog’ movie!

After watching that show, we hopped on the Haunted Mansion, which is always decorated completely holiday themed out and SPOOKTACULAR!! There were many shrill screams heard throughout the ride as well as an intense search for hidden Mickey’s. After being scared enough for a while, we headed on over to It’s a Small World which was completely redone to show the holiday spirit, and was enjoyed by all.  My favorite new part in the ride was the gorgeous different Christmas Trees in the different ‘countries’ throughout the ride.  The attention to detail was amazing, and we couldn’t help turning our head back and forth to try to catch all the details on each side of the slow boat ride!

The night ended with the most fabulous display of fireworks I’ve ever seen (Disney seriously tops themselves every time I go) and a flurry of snow on Mainstreet!!!!  It was truly a magical night, absolutely perfect.  I CANNOT wait to go back and experience it all again!!!

Sassy City Chicks

Sassy City Chicks San Diego
Got invited to attend the Sassy City Chicks event in San Diego at Belo Nightclub a few weeks ago.  I didn’t know what to expect or what I was getting myself into besides that with the VIP tickets I was promised a swag bag!  The event was hosted by Hypnotiq, who provided amazing martinis and champagne drinks with candy rocks.

The exclusive shopping event/sample sale was amazing… found amazing pieces from up and coming designers as well as established houses–everything was an amazing deal!  My favorite new designer, who makes all of her own clothes by hand (therefore completely original) is Rachael M. Broussard who designs for Supastar Clothing Co. I was so impressed with all of her pieces and picked up an amazing navy flow-y halter top with gold beaded neckline.  Absolutely in love with it!!

This is event, is HIGHLY recommended by me, for anyone with any taste in clothing who loves to shop or is looking for great gifts!!

Halloweenie 2009

I went up to San Francisco to visit, relax and have fun.  Had so much fun spending one night out with friends at a vineyard that they turned into a club-like atmosphere and the next night at a more ‘adult’ party that was a ton of fun! Here are some pictures, maybe I will have more time to write about the weekend soon.

Thought I’d take a quick break and share some of the good/bad costumes I’ve worn over the last few years…none of which were very creative or had ANY thought behind them.. Enjoy!!

Lakers vs. Nuggets

Lakers vs. Nuggets LAST pre-season game!I got a chance (as we do every year) to get free tickets from our friend Jennifer to go to the Sports Arena in San Diego to see the Lakers play a pre-season game! This year it was against the Nuggets and the game got SO intense! There were 5 technical fouls called in less than 10 minutes and there was even a fight that broke out between Lamar Odom and Chris “Birdman” Anderson.  I DO NOT LIKE Birdman.  He was taunting the crowd and doing this flappy-arms things that was so lame.

Also, Luke (our dear friend) left us VIP Guest Passes so we got to stay after the game (as we always do) and see him and whoever else comes out to see family and friends! I got to meet and take a picture with the amazing assistant coach Byron Shaw and also saw Lamar Odom, Jordan Farmar and some other players I didn’t recognize.  When I saw Luke I had to show him a picture os his “biggest fan” who was sitting next to us during the game and whose entire section was cheering SO loud for Luke! It was awesome to see he has so many San Diego fans, but a little disturbing to see what fans he attracts.  When I showed him the picture, he said “oh geeeze… that’s SCARY!!!!”Luke's disturbing fan!!

The Lakers didn’t win, but the game was SUCH an amazing one to watch an be a part of!

Nike Women’s Marathon!

My mom, grandma and I took a weekend road trip up to San Francisco to race in the Nike Women’s Marathon for Leukemia! It was such an amazing experience and I am determined to go back every year.. and next time I am going to actually TRAIN! I have been SOO sore the last two days… so embarrassing!  I’m supposed to be young and in shape : )

The BEST part of the race… in my opinion… was at the end of the race my mom and I crossed the finish line together holding hands and were immediately greeted by HOT firefighters in tuxedo’s holding huge silver platters with hundreds of little blue Tiffany’s boxes for us!!! The Tiffany’s necklace we got was so cute! It is silver (of course) with a woman running on the front with “Run Like A Girl”  which was the marathon’s slogan AND on the back it says “SF NWM 2009″.  I had such an amazing time and doing it with my mom was so special!

Family Feud. hilarious.

My dad and his brothers were on Family Feud back in the day, and we JUST found this HILARIOUS clip from the taping of their show.  OHHH WOWWW So funny, the clip is maily of my Uncle Gary, with my Uncle Greg, my dad (with the most scruff on his face) and Uncle Gustav at the end with my Grandma Grace with the white hair.  My dad said after this question/answer they had to stop filming for about 5 whole minutes because the audience was laughing and hollering SO loud they couldn’t have that part on the air!!!

If you need a good laugh…and have a sense of humor… or even if you don’t… WATCH IT!!!

fun and exhaustion.

Double Rainbow right outside of my house! So pretty

Double Rainbow right outside of my house! So pretty

The last few weeks (or maybe just one week) has been unlike any other in my life, and I kind of dig that.  Hanging out and meeting so many new and fun people and I am so grateful to have certain people back in my life!  From bonfires, bars and birthday-sushi-parties and going out downtown, to kickbacks at the mansion, getting serenaded by guitar rainbows and beach it has been a crazy week!  It’s time to get serious…

Went to the Padres vs. Giants game at Petco park and had the BIGGEST disaster trying to get there. Here are some of the pictures do a pretty good job documenting the disaster-day–except it was actually fun in a strange way. BUT most important of all, we got there just to see the GIANTS beat the Padres!!! Yes!  GO GIANTS!!

This has been such a trying time and so stressful but I have been praying and doing my best to stay calm even if I am having a heart attack on the inside.  It is my DREAM to go to the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising and I am waiting on pins and needles for my acceptance interview in half an hour! So nervous but EXCITED!!
