My mom, grandma and I took a weekend road trip up to San Francisco to race in the Nike Women’s Marathon for Leukemia! It was such an amazing experience and I am determined to go back every year.. and next time I am going to actually TRAIN! I have been SOO sore the last two days… so embarrassing! I’m supposed to be young and in shape : )
- The little man had a hard time letting us leave him… so sad!!
- Quick pitstop in Santa Nella after spending the night at Harris Ranch
- Close up of the side of the NikeTown store in Union Square!!
- Macy’s in Union Square
- Coit Tower from the marathon on Embarcadero
- Mile 4!!!!!!
- Golden Gate Bridge!! so pretty
- Mom by the FINISH LIKE A GIRL sign!
- Mile 8…… so tired up all those hills!
- BEST sign ever on the side of the race… there’s no app for that!!!
- approaching the breakers!!! almost done 3 more miles!!
- MILE 12!! “The Chocolate Mile”
- JUST crossed the finish line and was greeted by this….
- Mommy and her asian firefigher
- our goodies!!! we finished the marathon!!
The BEST part of the race… in my opinion… was at the end of the race my mom and I crossed the finish line together holding hands and were immediately greeted by HOT firefighters in tuxedo’s holding huge silver platters with hundreds of little blue Tiffany’s boxes for us!!! The Tiffany’s necklace we got was so cute! It is silver (of course) with a woman running on the front with “Run Like A Girl” which was the marathon’s slogan AND on the back it says “SF NWM 2009″. I had such an amazing time and doing it with my mom was so special!
